Ch.3               Masquerade

Today Amelia told me I could get a job.She said it's time I get off my lazy ass and got to work.I ran my fingers over my black eye.I was thinking.If someone saw me like this,I'd get in trouble. I looked at my swollen bruised lip...It had scabs along it..but it still wasn't pretty.I wrapped a red crimson scarf around my neck.Quietly,I put on some sunglasses as well.

It's not like the Hollywood movies,where the guy hits the girl,he says he's sorry,shares a passionate kiss and never does it again.

                                                   This was real.

The dark purple,almost black bruises were real.The gentle kiss on every disgusting mark with an apology wasn't.

The bloody lips and constant flinching even when someone does the most docile of things was real.The gentle hugs and comfort weren't.

It was real life.

Whatever the movies hid in a smash of romance and forgiveness were all lies.

Just like when the police  said;
                                         It doesn't happen to guys.
